In addition to individual and business donations, memorials, sales of books, and the popular monthly “Lunch at the Library” make this library truly a Delta County library. The city and county make yearly donations, and other sources of income include citizen donations on the water bills of the City of Cooper and MUDD district water bills. Since the city of Cooper and the Delta County Commissioners Court could not afford to take on the expense of funding the library like other libraries in the state, it is largely funded by the citizens of the county. The library, which serves Delta Township and the Waverly school district, eliminated late fees for childrens materials last year. The Euphorigen Investigation escape room came from a research project at the University of Washington as a way to combat online misinformation. The library opened in January of 1993 and remains an important part of community infrastructure. Each month, the Delta Township District Library hosts their Euphorigen Investigation, an adult escape room designed to combat misinformation in the media. With the help of local volunteers, the library was remodeled. In 1992 when the library acquired a grant, they were able to purchase the old Church of Christ building at 300 West Dallas Avenue. It flourished and eventually began to outgrow its initial location. The library opened on November 11, 1982, at the site of the old Tom Boyd house on Southwest First Street in Cooper, Texas. Wilkerson and Foy Burns began working to found the Delta County Public Library in 1981.
